Welcome to the Jefferson High School PTSA

Welcome new families and staff and all of our returning Demos!

Please consider becoming a member of the PTSA. Everyone in the Jefferson community is welcome. PTSA stands for Parent, Teacher, Student Association which doesn’t fully describe who we are. Alumni, grandparents, caregivers, SEI, Latin Network, anyone who is part of the Jefferson community is enthusiastically invited.

Here are just some of things that we do:

  • Run a weekly community food pantry

  • Fund grants for staff projects and student group/club projects

  • Provide scholarships for graduating seniors

  • Host a Senior Celebration to honor our graduates in the spring

  • Publish a monthly newsletter

  • Hold community events

  • Sell Jefferson gear (t-shirts, hoodies, etc)

  • Fundraise to support all of the things we do!

We are here for you.  In addition to asking you what you can do for the PTSA and the school.  Your PTSA is here to support you. Our newsletter, emails and meetings keep you informed. You can reach out to us if you are looking for information and can’t find it.  You can meet other parents and community members at meetings and events.  We often have guest speakers at our monthly meetings on topics that directly relate to our community, like the Center for Black Student Excellence or how Covid Impacts Teens and their families.  The food pantry and clothing closet is here for anyone in need.  The PTSA is YOUR community organization.

Lastly, we want to acknowledge and honor the diversity in our school community.  As your PTSA, we are committed to breaking down barriers that our families and community members may experience that keep them from feeling welcome.  We want everyone to feel welcomed, valued and included. That doesn’t happen without commitment and work.  Together, we can do great things for the students of Jefferson High School and build a stronger community for everyone.

We love the Jefferson school community, the staff, the students, the families and alumni!  Looking forward to a year of connection and lots of opportunity to support Jefferson!

Meetings

PTSA meetings are the second Wednesday of each month, 6:30-8:00.  Snacks and refreshments are provided.

Everyone is welcome to participate in the conversations that happen at PTSA; voting on motions is restricted to current members but joining is easy!

Standard membership dues are $12.50.  $9.50 of that goes to the state and national PTA and $3.00 stays in our local organization.  We don’t want dues to get in the way of you joining.  We have offered scholarships in the past but we don’t get many requests for scholarships.

This year, we would like to try something new.  We will have a sliding scale option to membership so you can pay what works best for you.  On our link above, you will see two options.  One is standard membership, $12.50.  The sliding scale membership gives you two choices, $5.00 or custom.  In the custom choice, you can type in what you can pay, $1.00 and up.  This is also an opportunity for those that might want to give a little extra.  We also offer full scholarships for membership dues.  Just contact anyone on the board with your request.

You may also pay for membership at:  Oregon PTA.  But there is a small additional fee.
